British Roller Derby Championships

Triples Header and Playoffs Details!

We’re getting close to the business end of the season for some of our divisions, where Triple Headers and PlayOffs start focusing the teams’ attentions! So we thought we’d break down what’s going to happen.

Both Women’s Tier 1 UKRDA Premier and Men’s Tier 1 Premier have completed their seasons. Congratulations to our first British Champions, Glasgow Roller Derby and Southern Discomfort Roller Derby!

For Women ‘s Tier 2, Women’s Tier 3 and Men’s Tier 2, all divisions will feature a Triple Header on the last day of the divisional games. This was a very popular day during the Heartland Series tournaments, as all 6 teams from the divisions will meet to play each other, having played each other on 6 previous gamedays. They are when the final divisional positions are decided, confirmation of who goes through to any playoffs, celebrations of the season, the friends made and the rivalries created! They are not to be missed.

Teams from these divisions have put themselves forward to host these games, and we can announce that the hosts for the Triple Headers are as follows:

  • Women’s T2 UKRDA National North – Hot Wheel Roller Derby – to be played Saturday 15th August at The Edge Sports Centre, University of Leeds, Leeds
  • Women’s T2 UKRDA National South – Brighton Rockers Roller Derby – to be played on Sunday 9th August at Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath
  • Women’s T3 Regional North – Sheffield Steel Roller Derby – to be played on Saturday 8th August at Concord Sports Centre, Shiregreen Lane, Sheffield

  • Men’s T2 National – New Wheeled Order – to be played on Saturday 5th September at Carnall Leisure Centre, Urmston, Manchester

Once the final positions have been decided, the Women’s Tiers 2, 3 and 4 will have playoffs to decide which teams are promoted into the higher divisions. These are real festivals of derby, with the prize of testing yourselves against stronger opposition next year. We can announce the hosts for these exciting playoffs:

There may also be a third place play off, but we cannot confirm this yet, due to venue negotiations. Both finalists will be promoted to the Premier division for the 2016 season.

The Women’s T3 Regional playoffs will be contested by the top 2 teams from the 4 Tier 3 divisions, with 4 quarter finals, 2 semi finals, a third place playoff and a final. All four semi finalists will be promoted to Tier 2 for the 2016 season.

The Women’s T4 Local Western playoffs will be contested by the top 2 teams from the T4 West and T4 South West divisions, with 2 semi finals, a third place playoff and a final. Both finalists will be promoted to Tier 3 for the 2016 season.

The Women’s T4 Local Northern playoffs will be contested by the top 2 teams from the T4 North and T4 Central North divisions, with 2 semi finals, a third place playoff and a final. Both finalists will be promoted to Tier 3 for the 2016 season.

The Women’s T4 Local Southern playoffs will be contested by the top 2 teams from the T4 Central South and T4 South East divisions, with 2 semi finals, a third place playoff and a final. Both finalists will be promoted to Tier 3 for the 2016 season.

The two remaining promotion T4 spots will be contested by the three third place teams from the T4 playoffs. The two promoted teams will be those who have won most tournament points from divisional games during the season (for instance, 3 wins equal 9 tournament points). In the event of a tie, points differential from their divisional games will be used to rank the teams.

It should be a fantastic series of games to round off this first incredible Champs season!
